Instructional Ideas

  1. After a lesson, teachers can have students view a video in this app related to the topic and then have students summarize the video, explain how the video relates to the topic of the lesson, or brainstorm additional questions they now have related to the topic of the lesson and video.
  2. To brainstorm ideas for research assignments, teachers can have students browse the videos in this app for ideas. Once they find a video that interest them, students can view it. Finally, they can write a short research project proposal that they can send to their teacher that explains their project.
  3. After becoming familiar with the videos posted in this app, teachers can have students replicate that kind of video. To do so, students would have to research a topic, type a script for their video, find images to include in their video, and then create the video using the TouchCast or iMovie app.
  4. As a hook to a new unit, teachers can tell students that they will be starting a new unit and then play a video found in this app that directly relates to the upcoming unit of study. Next, teachers can have students predict what they will be studying by asking: (1) What do you think we will learn in this new unit? (2) What topics do you think will be discussed? (3) How do you think this unit will relate to you? Students can respond to these prompts orally or in writing.
