Instructional Ideas

  1. As a catalyst for a whole-class discussion, teachers can play the video for students. As they watch it, teachers can ask students: (1) What happened in the video?, (2) How was independence a theme in this video?, and (3) What else could the teacher or girl do to help with the temperature?
  2. As a creative writing activity, teachers can show students the video. Then, instead of the noises the characters make, students can write dialogue for the characters. Afterwards, students can read their dialogue for the characters as the video plays.
  3. After watching the video, teachers can have students identify ways they can be supportive and inclusive to people who have a disability. In the conversation, the class can make a plan to be supportive and inclusive and then implement it. After it is implemented, teachers can check-in with students about their progress of the plan.
