Applying the Literacy Terms – English – App Lesson

Description: This app lesson develops English Language Arts and English as a Second Language students’ vocabulary and grammar skills.

Instructional Objective: Students will study a literary term by selecting one from a glossary, creating a graphic that defines and exemplifies the term, and then explain how that term is part of a literary work.

Step 1: Students will be assigned a literary term by their teacher that can be found in the Dictionary.com app.

Step 2: Students will then create a graphic using the Lucidchart app that includes the term’s definition, an image that represents the term, and an example of the term from a literary work. These graphics can be posted to a class website or printed and hung on the classroom wall.

Step 3: Students will then review the different texts they read, identify one that uses the literary term, and then compose a paragraph with the Textilus app that explains how the term is part of that text.
