ACTFL: A Best Lesson Planning App
Summary : Foreign language lesson planning made easy!
ACTFL Unit and Lesson Planner helps language teachers build units and lessons with resources from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Users are presented with the options to plan a unit, lesson, or view their library on the home screen. To plan a unit, users select a language from Arabic to Spanish, a skill level (Novice-low to Distinguished), input a grade level, approximate length, theme, and topic. Next, users input goals for the unit by filling in a simple “Students will be able to …” field. Interpretive mode, product, practice, connection to other disciplines, etc. are all filled in by the user. In a “Connections to Common Core” area, users select the writing, reading, speaking & listening, and language standards from an easy-to-use drop-down menu. When complete, users have a thorough, professional foreign language lesson plan added to their library that can be exported and emailed as a PDF. The References section includes lists of language functions, essential questions, example lessons, standards resources, and more!
