Adobe Photoshop Express

Adobe Photoshop Express accesses users’ photos and helps touch them up with cropping, slider corrections, red eye elimination, borders, or an auto-fix option. To edit photos, users first select a picture from their gallery. Next, users must choose how they wish to edit their photo. With the crop tool, users can cut out unnecessary head space or straighten, flip, or rotate the photo. With the slider tools, users can adjust the clarity, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, tint, temperature, 0r sharpen the vibrance of the image. With the red eye detection tool, Adobe Photoshop Express will automatically find red eyes in a picture and soften them to their natural color. Users can also add borders, frames, and mattes to their picture. If users do not like any of the edits, they can use the undo and redo buttons. Finally, users can compare their original image to their final image, save the new picture to their camera roll, post to Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Revel, Flickr, or Facebook, and share via email or text.

Instructional Ideas

1. Teachers can have students take pictures related to a topic of study and then edit them using this app. Teachers can then have students compose a paragraph that explains the connection between the picture and the topic of study and another paragraph that explains how they enhanced the picture using this app. Finally, students can email their edited pictures to their teacher to print and display in the classroom.
2. Students can use this app to touch-up images that they plan to use as part of a larger presentation or movie project.
3. Teachers can instruct students to scan an older image (e.g., a photograph from WWII, a vintage advertisement, a piece of art) and then enhance it using this app. Finally, students can compose an explanation of how they restored the image using this app and post it to a class website.
