Adobe Post: A Top App for Designing Visuals
Summary : Creating Infographics Has Never Been Easier!
Adobe Post allows users to create original infographics or modify preloaded ones. After logging into the app, users must choose if they wish to browse infographics, create their own, or “remix” an existing one. The existing infographics are preloaded on the home screen screen and organized by category (e.g., Seasonal, Craft, Business, Travel, etc.). Users can tap a preloaded infographic to view it and they can make it their own by tapping the “Remix” button, which allows them to edit it. If users wish to create their own infographic, they can tap the “+” button on the bottom of the screen. Next, users must choose if they wish to load an existing image, search for one online, or take a picture with their camera. Users are then able to add text to the image by double tapping the text box, and they can modify the text’s color, font, shape, alignment, opacity, and shaping. At this point, users can further stylize the infographic by customizing its design, palette, and photo shade. When finished, users can share their infographic via text message, email, social media, or to their iCloud. (If users chose to “remix” an image, they will be able to edit the image using all the options for creating a new infographic.)
Instructional Ideas
- Teachers can assign a vocabulary word to a student, and the student can create an infographic using this app that represents the word. Specifically, students can include a picture that symbolizes the word and text that defines or describes it. When finished, students can post the infographic to a class website or email it to their teacher.
- When studying famous events, people, or locations, students can create an infographic with this app. They can choose an image of the event, person, or location for the background and then add descriptive text. When finished, students can share their infographic via email or post it to a class website.
- When planning a presentation, students can create multiple infographics using this app to use as visual aids. They can then import the infographics into a PowerPoint, which they show as they present.
- As a review activity, teachers can assign students different content from the tested material. Students will then create multiple infographics with this app related to the content they were assigned. Students can then present their infographics to the class. Teachers can add a twist to this activity by awarding extra points on the test for students who created the most engaging and/or humorous infographic.
