Description: This app lesson develops students’ decimal division and measuring skills.
Instructional Objective: Students will watch an instructional video on dividing decimals and will measure (to the nearest tenth of an inch/centimeter) two objects they find in the classroom. Students will then create flashcards representing the division of each measurement and demonstrate their understanding of dividing decimals by completing their division problems and taking a screen shot to log their progress.
Step 1: Students will watch an instructional video on dividing decimals using the Khan Academy app.
Step 2: Students will measure objects (to the nearest tenth of an inch/centimeter) in their classroom using the Ruler Professional app.
Step 3: Students will then solve their decimal division problem step-by-step, demonstrating their understanding of the mathematical concept of dividing decimals, and they will screenshot their work for submission using the ModMath app.
Step 4: Students will create flashcards representing a division problem containing their two measurements using the StudyBlue Flashcards & Quizzes app and can use them to share/quiz fellow classmates.
