Instructional Ideas

  1. When assigning students a research assignment, teachers can require students to create a video that complements a traditional research paper. Or, teachers can replace a traditional research paper by requiring students to create a video that demonstrates and explains their research.
  2. When explaining a process or procedure, teachers can have students create a slide that spells out each step. For each slide, students would have to provide illustrations or images of the step and then narrate directions for accomplishing that step. Finally, when finished, students can play their video for classmates and have classmates follow the process or procedure.
  3. Instead of writing and illustrating a traditional paper-and-pencil story, students can storyboard their idea for a picture book and digitalize it using this app.
  4. After studying a topic (e.g., World War II, the Periodic Table of Elements, or major works from the Romantic Movement), teachers can break the topic into subtopics (e.g., key battles or significant people from WWII, the different elements of the Periodic Table, or the individual works or authors of the Romantic Movement) and assign each subtopic to a student or group of students. Students will then be required to create a video about their topic using this app. Finally, students can play their video for their classmates as a review.
