Art Gallery: +3000 Artists
Summary : A World of Paintings at Your Fingertips
Art Gallery: +3000 Artists provides users with digital access to the paintings of several hundred artists. After launching the app, users are placed in a gallery where they can view a few dozen paintings. If they see a painting of interest, they can tap it to view it close up, and they can also zoom in on the painting to inspect it in detail. In this view, users can also tap the painting to access the “Upload” button that allows them to save the painting or share it via email. In addition, they can tap the “Done” button to return to the gallery view. When in the gallery, users can tap the “Painters” button to view the names of several hundred painters. To access paintings, users will have to tap a painter’s name, and they can then view all the paintings. To return to the gallery, users must tap the “Back” button.
Please Note: Users will have to upgrade in order to view all the paintings up close and to access the “Museum” feature.
Instructional Ideas
- Students can browse the gallery for a painting of interest. When they find one, they can search the painting using the All Search Engines in One HD They can then write a summary of the information they found that includes when the painting was created, who painted it, and common interpretations of the painting. Summaries can be posted to a class website or shared verbally.
- On the main page, users can view the different paintings in detail. They can then pick their favorite painting from the main page and write a 200-word synopsis that explains why they selected that painting. Students can then post their synopsis to a class website.
- Students can select a painting of interest from this app and attempt to recreate it using an artwork creation app, such as Drawing Desk. After working to recreate it, students can write a reflective journal where they explain the successes and challenges they had when trying to recreate the painting.
