Art Terms: An App for Art
Summary : What does that mean? A glossary for art.
Art Terms is a comprehensive glossary devoted to art. From the main screen, users are presented a list of alphabetized terms, and they can scroll the list or search for a term by entering it into the box above the list. Once a term is found, users click on it to access its definition. While viewing the definition, users can tap social media or email icons that are located on the bottom of the screen to share it with other users. They can also tap the “Star” button to favorite it. To access terms that were marked as favorites, users must return to the main screen and tap the “Three Dots” button on the top left.
Please Note: This app shows an ad after a certain amount of time has passed.
Instructional Ideas
- Teachers can assign students an art term. Students will first have to define the term using this app and then create a piece of art that exemplifies the term. Finally, students can be required to use an Office app to compose an explanation of how the piece of art they created does, in fact, exemplify the term.
- Teachers can present students with a piece of art. In response, students will have to analyze it using multiple art terms they found in this app. Students can explain their analysis using an Office app, and their analysis can be submitted to the teacher for grading.
- As students learn an art term from this app, they can “favorite” the term. This way, over the course of the semester, they can review all the terms they marked as “favorites” to support them when studying terms.
