CalcMadeEasy Free—Scientific Calculator with Automatic Notes

CalcMadeEasy Free is a fully functional scientific calculator with a notepad feature. To toggle between the calculator and notepad, users tap the icon located on the bottom of the screen. To use the calculator, users enter in their information as they would on a traditional calculator and they will be supplied with an answer. For helpful tips and hints for using the calculator, users can tap the “light bulb” icon on the top right of the screen. To create notes using the notepad feature, users must click the “+” on the top left of the screen, name their note, tap in the note area, and then add their information.

Instructional Ideas

1. Teachers can instruct students how to solve different types of math problems or find numerical values using this app. To do so, teachers can connect their iPad to a projector and demonstrate how to solve the various math problems using this app. As they demonstrate, teachers must be explicit about the sequences they use when entering data into the calculator.
2. To help students retain mathematical information, including formulas, sequences, and rules, teachers can have students create a note for each one using the notepad feature in this app. That way, students will quickly build a reference library to be used when solving various math problems.
3. Teachers can have students become more efficient when using this app. To do so, on the calculator screen, teachers can have students tap the “light bulb” icon on the top right and read the different tips. Teachers can then have students practice using the tips on their own. To add a twist, teachers can award students extra credit if they are willing to demonstrate how to do a tip to the class and when it would be most useful to do it.
