Class Library lets teachers quickly and easily check books in and out to students and monitor which students have books checked out under their name. To begin, teachers must enter books into their library by tapping the “Library” option, which opens a new screen in the app, and then tapping the “+” button. At this point, teachers can either use their camera to scan the book’s barcode or enter its ISBN using the keyboard. Teachers can then manually enter the book’s title and authors into the app, or they can tap the “Get Bok Info” button. Once entered, teachers must tap the “Add Book” button, and the app adds it to the teacher’s library. Next, teachers must add students by clicking the “Students” option on the app’s main screen and then adding each student’s name and email individually. Once complete, teachers can begin monitoring who has their books. To do so, teachers will need to return to the app’s main page, tap the “Check In/Out” button, which brings them to a new page. Here, teachers will scan the book’s barcode or enter its ISBN manually, click the students name, and choose if the student is checking the book in or out. After checking a book in/out to a student, teachers can return to the app’s main screen to monitor which students currently have books in their possession. In addition, teachers are able to email students to remind them about return dates for books.
Classroom Applications
- At the beginning of the year, teachers can use this app to check out textbooks to their students. That way, at the end of the year, teachers can have students check their textbooks back in and monitor if any textbooks went missing.
- Throughout the school year, teachers can check books in and out of their classroom library and monitor which students have their books.
- As part of a reading program, teachers can require students to check books out of their classroom library for a certain amount of time (e.g., two weeks, a month, etc.). During that timeframe, teachers can require students to read the book, complete a report or project based on the book, present their report or project to the class, and then check the book back into their classroom library. By using this app, it will help teachers monitor how long different students have had with a book.
