Instructional Ideas
- Teachers can use this app to have students practice using different parts of speech. To do so, teachers can instruct students to include certain parts of speech (e.g., two nouns, one past-tense verb, a coordinating conjunction, etc.) in a sentence. Once students have composed a sentence, they can share the sentence and explain the different parts of speech they included in it with a classmate.
- Teachers can preload a specific picture and word bank into this app and require students to create a paragraph about the picture using the word bank. While they compose sentences, students will have the aid of the word bank, pictures, and audible-read functions about the picture. Students can export their finished sentence(s) as a PDF or print them to display around the classroom.
- Teachers can instruct students to use the customizable features, and with teacher oversight, create their own “word bank” or “phrase bank” complete with pictures. Students can then switch tablets with a partner and each student can practice constructing sentences that use the contents of the different banks to create sentences.
- After teaching an instructional unit about a specific topic, teachers can create a topic-specific word bank complete with pictures related to the unit. Next, teachers can require students to compose sentences using the word bank and pictures to review key vocabulary about the topic of study.
