Instructional Ideas
- When studying our nation’s founding, students can use Constitution and Federalist Papers to read primary-source documents used to establish our nation. Teachers can add another level to this activity by having students compose one-sentence summaries of the texts they read.
- To dig deeper into the texts, teachers can have students translate the language used in the primary-source documents into modern-day English.
- Constitution and Federalist Papers can be paired with current events. For example, teachers can have students read a current-event article and then explore the Constitution and its amendments to identify the specific, applicable law connected to the current event.
- After having read the different governing documents in the Constitution and Federalist Papers app, students can be instructed to compose their own governing documents for a utopian society they have created.
