Instructional Ideas

  1. Teachers can assign students a product or company listed in this app to research. Students can begin their research by reading about the product in this app and linking to its website. When conducting research, students can include information about the history, mission, earnings, customer base, and future of the company or product.
  2. After reading and learning about the different companies indexed by this app, teachers can have students design a new product for a company listed in this app. Students would be responsible for creating the product, explaining exactly what the product is and what it does, and justifying why the company would create and sell the product. Students can create a product presentation using the FlowVella, Jimdo, or TouchCast app.
  3. Teachers can have students list all the products that they use during the day and look them up on this app. Next, teachers can have students search to see if the companies that produce the products are listed on the New York Stock Exchange using the Real-Time Stock & Forex Tracker app. Students can journal a response explaining if they would or would not invest in the company. Arguments can be made based on economics, the company’s mission statement, or another reason.

Please note: If the company is not listed on the Stock Exchange, students would need to research the company’s economic viability using a different resource.
