FarFaria is an online library of children’s books. In the library, there are hundreds of books that are colorfully illustrated. Plus, all the books in this app are lexiled and aligned to the Common Core State Standards readability grade-level indicators. When users select a book, they can choose the “read to me” option, the “auto-play” option, or the “read myself” option. If users choose the “read to me” option, FarFaria will read an entire page and then pause, waiting for the user to swipe the page. When “auto-play” is selected, FarFaria will read the entire book and turn pages automatically. If “read myself” is selected, users read the book independently. When FarFaria reads a book in either the “read to me” or “auto-play” modes, it highlights each word as it is read and narrates using an emotive voice. While reading a book in any mode, users can tap the screen, which allows them to select the “play” option, start the book over, “favorite” the book, or exit. If the “play” option is selected, FarFaria will begin to read the book to the user. The “start over” option returns the book back to its first page. The “favorite” option bookmarks the book and saves it to a user’s favorite list, and the “exit” button returns the user to the main menu.
