Fit Brains Trainer: An App for the Mind
Summary : Sharpen your mental processes
Fit Brains Trainer contains multiple activities to sharpen users’ cognitive skills. After registering with the app, users must select the cognitive area they wish to focus. The app then presents them with an activity they are to complete. Each activity consists of multiple prompts and questions in which users respond to or answer. At the end of the activity, users are presented with a score report in the form of a Bell curve, which represents their performance. Users are encouraged to complete training activities daily and at least four activities per week. Users can navigate the app with the icons located at the bottom of the screen. Users can tap the “Training” button to access the daily activity. The “Games” button lets users choose additional activities that target specific cognitive functions. The “Performance” button shows users their progress.
Please Note: Only a limited amount of content can be accessed for free. Users must make an in-app purchase to access all of the app’s content.
Instructional Ideas:
- As a daily bellringer activity, teachers can have students complete a daily training activity. Students can chart their progress over time to analyze their performance. After a period of time, students can compose a brief written statement about their progress.
- After completing an activity or game, teachers can have students compose a journal entry that explains if they feel cognitively sharper after completing the activity or game.
- Once students are familiar with the content of this app, teachers can have them make paper-and-pencil versions of the activities that they can administer to classmates.
