If the incorrect answer is selected, users are given a brief explanation for their incorrect selection, and then they have an opportunity to answer the question again. At the end of each 10-question quiz, users are given a score, along with a bronze, silver, or gold star that corresponds with their quiz performance. Users may go back at any time and retake a quiz to improve their score.
Instructional Ideas
- By using this this app, teachers can create a review game by having students take the same quiz at the same time and report their scores. To add an extra twist, teachers can time students to see who can get the highest score while taking the least amount of time on a quiz.
- While engaging the app, teachers can instruct students to create their own sentences with qualifiers that model the questions used by the app. An example question students may create is:
Select the qualifiers from the following sentence: ‘The modern furniture didn’t blend well with the old-fashioned carpet.”
a. The, furniture
b. The, modern, carpet
c. The, modern, old-fashioned
Teachers can also have students share their questions with each other as a class review for an upcoming assessment.
- After learning how to identify qualifiers, teachers can have students transfer that skill from identifying qualifiers in the app to identifying qualifiers in texts they read in class.
