Instructional Ideas

  1. While their teacher lectures, students can take notes using this website. Students will need to first add the date and title of the lecture to their notes before taking notes. Once they are finished with their notes, teachers can require students to send themselves an email with their notes. In addition, teachers can make sweeps of the room while they lecture and glance at students’ computer screens to ensure they are taking notes.
  2. Instead of taking notes with this website, students can use it for daily journal writing. To do so, teachers can begin class by projecting a writing prompt. In response, students enter the date and prompt into the heading and then compose their journal. When finished, students can download their journal as a PDF and save it to their Google Drive or another area. That way, teachers can easily grade it by calling students to their desk and browsing their journals from their device.
  3. When conducting research about a topic, students can open this website in one tab and conduct research in additional tabs. As students identify key information, they can copy it from one website and add it to their notes. Teachers can modify this assignment so students create annotated bibliographies by writing the citation for the source where they found the information and then adding the information.
  4. For an exit ticket, teachers can project an assessment at the end of class and have students respond to it by writing their answer using this website. When finished, students can email their response to their teacher.
