Instructional Ideas

  1. To familiarize students with the harmonica, teachers can allow them to play the app in free mode.
  2. Teachers can have students practice playing different songs with the harmonica by having students put the app in “Song Book” mode. Students can practice playing the song. When they are ready, teachers can have students perform the song for a classmate.
  3. Once students are familiar with the different keys and how to play the harmonica, teachers can have them play the instrument on their tablet while reading notes from a songbook.
  4. When ready, students can create a digital class band. To do so, a group of students can all choose different musical instrument apps to play. They can rehearse for a period of time, and then, when ready, they can perform for the class!
