Instructional Ideas

  1. As an introduction to a unit on President Kennedy and the 1960s, teachers can allow students to complete a mission from this app. After completing the mission, teachers can have students report back about the information they learned, what interested them about the mission, and if/how the mission is still relevant today. Students can report back orally or in writing. Lastly, teachers can then parlay student responses into a class conversation by asking them to share.
  2. As a springboard to a research project about President Kennedy, students can complete a mission in this app. While completing it, students can pay attention to an aspect of the mission that they would like to further research. Aspects may include famous quotes, President Kennedy’s goals for the country, politics of the 1960s, or the legacy of President Kennedy’s projects. Students can present their research using the PowerPoint, FlowVella, or Prezi apps.
  3. Students can complete a mission in this app and record their three favorite quotes said by President Kennedy during the mission. Next, students can engage each quote by researching them and then explaining what President Kennedy meant by saying them. Students can compose a brief explanation using the UX Documents, Office Offline, or WPS Office apps. The explanation can be posted to a class website or emailed to the teacher for grading.
  4. After completing a mission in this app, students can journal a response that summarizes the experience they had while completing the mission. Specific ideas to include in the summary are: (1) what did they like about completing the mission, (2) where they thought the mission could be improved, (3) if they thought the mission benefited the country, and (4) how they would redesign the mission if they were able to do so. Students can compose their journal entries using the UX Documents, Office Offline, or WPS Office apps.
