Instructional Ideas

  1. Teachers can have students read a book in this app independently. As students read, teachers can make sweeps of the room to answer any questions students may have. Teachers can also check students for comprehension by asking students: (1) Can you explain to me what you are doing?, (2) What did you learn from this book?, and (3) Where have you seen this [insert the name of content the student viewing] before?
  2. Once or twice per week, teachers can have students read a book and complete activities in this app. After students complete the book or activity, teachers can view their progress in the password-protected area.
  3. Teachers can connect their iPad to a projector and have the class engage a book together. Teachers can select one student to be the “Page Turner” or “Activity Completer.” This student will be responsible for turning the pages or completing the activities as instructed by the teacher or classmates. After the book has been completed, teachers can review it by asking: (1) Can someone please retell me what we just did?, (2) What did we learn from this book/activity?, and (3) Does this book/activity remind you of something else you have seen or read? These questions can be answered orally and teachers can use them as a springboard to a full-class discussion.
