Letter Workbooks: A Top-Notch App for Teaching Handwriting
Summary : Learn Letter Writing Here!
Letter Workbook teaches users how to write letters. When Letter Workbook is launched, users must first enter their name and choose if they are left- or right-handed. Next, users can pick to trace upper- or lowercase letters and the letter they wish to practice. When practicing, Letter Workbook pronounces the letter’s name and a word that begins with that letter. Users are then prompted to trace the letter on lined paper. Once users trace a letter, Letter Workbook records their tracing and marks it correct or incorrect. After users have correctly traced the letter on lined paper multiple times, Letter Workbook has them practice on non-lined paper. Users can then access additional letters by tapping the “arrow” button on the top left of the screen, which sends them back to the main screen.
Please note: Users must make an in-app purchase to access all the letters in the alphabet.
Instructional Ideas
- Teachers can have students practice writing letters independently. Once they have completed a whole exercise, students can take a screen shot of their work and send it to their teacher for grading.
- Once students are able to write letters using this app, teachers can have them transfer their letter-writing skills from the app to paper-and-pen practice.
- After students have become comfortable writing letters using this app, teachers can show students a letter and ask them to name a word that begins with that letter. To add a twist, teachers can show students a picture and ask them which letter begins that word.
