The “Record and Sing” option lets users sing directly into their iPad’s microphone while the band plays. Once they are finished singing, the lyrics will be played over the music. The “Make Your Own Music” option lets users mix the sounds that the different instruments in the band make. The “Make Them Go Crazy” option lets users tap the band members and watch them respond in wild ways.

Instructional Ideas

  1. Students can interact with this app independently to make music and explore the options. After modeling how to use the app and giving students time to work with it, teachers can monitor student progress by asking: (1) What do you like about the app? (2) Which band member is your favorite? (3) If you were going to join the band, which instrument would you play?
  2. Teachers can have students use the “Record and Sing” option in this app to create their own songs. Once created and recorded, students can play their music for a classmate or teacher.
  3. After building a familiarity with the app, teachers can assign students other digital instruments to play on their iPad with apps such as Music Sparkles, Easy Xylophone, and Bongos Free. Next, students can play their instruments together and the teacher can record their music using the iPad’s camera.
