Description: This app lesson will develop middle school students’ understanding of graphing data and regional weather patterns.
Instructional Objective: Students will apply math concepts with real-world data, graphing weather information for a particular region.
Step 1: Students will pick an area of the world they know nothing about using Google Earth.
Step 2: Next, students will investigate this area’s weather patterns –precipitation, temperature, wind, etc.—using the Weather Channel app.
Step 3: Then, students will chart this data over a month using the Vizable app.
Step 4: Finally, students will write a report including what they thought the annual temperatures, rainfall, etc. were going to be before investigating the region, and what their data concluded using the Word app. Students will include graphs from their Vizable data.
