English Grammar in Use: A Best App for Language

English Grammar in Use is a resource for everything grammar! The app includes over 20 grammar tutorials, and each tutorial includes multiple topics. When users select a topic, the app presents them with “Explanations” about the topic and practice “Exercises” that assess users’ knowledge of the topic. If users want to save the topic, they can tap the “Ribbon” on the top right of the screen to bookmark it. Additionally at the top right, users can tap the “Lined” button to access a glossary of grammar terms, items they bookmarked, and the app’s appendices that contain further information. With the “Lined” button, users can also tap it to search for specific information in the app, view study guides, and more.
Please Note: Only a limited amount of tutorials are accessible for free. Users will have to make an in-app purchase to access additional tutorials. However, users do not have to make a purchase to access the content and functionality provided by the “Lined” button.
Instructional Ideas
- Teachers can assign students a grammar tutorial to learn and complete in this app. Teachers can then create a quiz using an assessment app to evaluate student learning.
- Teachers can assign students a grammar term documented in this app’s glossary. Students will then have to create a lesson that explains the term and quiz questions to assess student learning of that term.
- Teachers can have students complete assessments included in the study guide feature of this app and report their scores to their teacher.
- Teachers can use a grammatical term in context and then ask students if they are familiar with the term. If not, teachers can require students to find and define the term using the “Search” function in this app.
