Instructional Ideas

  1. When teachers assign students research projects, teachers can show students how to use this app to quickly find information that can be used in their project. This app can be paired with the Pocket app, so students can quickly bookmark and save the information they find when using this app.
  2. Teachers can use this app to explain to students the variety of information different websites offer. To do so, teachers can use a generic search term (e.g., battleships) to show students the type of information that they would find about the search term using Google, as compared to YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. Students can then record the information the different websites provide. This information will help students search websites strategically in the future.
  3. In preparation for a research assignment, teachers can have students practice finding information using this app to identify the websites that give them the most useful information. Students can then rank their top five websites and compose brief rationales that explain why they like these websites and how they plan to use them when gathering information for their upcoming research assignment.
