Presentation Maker: An App for Visualization

Summary : Making Inforgraphics Possible

Presentation Maker allows users to create, customize, and share slides. From the app’s home screen, users must first tap the “Create New” button. Users will then be presented with a blank slide, and they can add text, shapes, markers, and images to it. Once a piece of content is added to the slide, users can adjust its size and location on the slide by tapping and dragging it. Plus, with some content, users can also customize its color and font. If users tap the “New Slide” button, they will be required to save the slide they created before developing the next slide. To save a slide without adding a new slide, users can tap the “Save” button and name their slide. The app will then save it, and users are then able to select if and how they would to share it. Users can share the slide to other apps, online storage areas, via email, and over Bluetooth.

Please Note: Though this app is free to use, it does contain adds. Additionally, users may find it easier to take a screenshot of their slide and share it through their device’s gallery.

Instructional Ideas

  1. After reading a text, listening to a lecture, or viewing a video, teachers can require students to create a slide that captures the main idea or expresses an opinion related to the topic. Teachers can require students to include different elements on their slide, such as a certain amount of text, images, and shapes among others. When finished, teachers can require students to take a screenshot of their slide and share it with them via email.
  2. When creating a presentation assignment, teachers can require students to use this app for creating a visual aid they can use during their presentation.
  3. This app can be used for creating infographics. Students can be assigned a topic (e.g., a person, place, thing, event, etc.), and they can create a slide that explains what the topic is, its meaning, or its significance. When finished, students can save their slides by taking a screenshot and then upload them to a class website.
