As they enter the equation, users can swipe sideways on the calculator to access additional buttons. Once entered, Quick Graph will solve the equation and users can then tap the “Done” button to view the equation graphed on a X/Y axis or on a 3D cube. To toggle between the axis and cube, users must tap the “Three Dots” button and select the “sphere” or “graph” icon. If users want to enter another equation, they can tap the “+” button. Then, if multiple equations are added, users can tap the “triangle” button on the axis or cube and swipe sideways to see the different equations and their color-coded appearance. Additionally, users can access equations for different shapes and geometrical figures by first tapping the “Three Dots” button and then the “Book” icon. If users wish to save or share their image, they can tap the “Three Dots” button and then tap the “Upload” button.

Instructional Ideas

  1. Teachers can have students use this app as a traditional calculator.
  2. Teachers can name a shape or geometric figure and have students enter and graph an equation that shows the shape or figure.
  3. After reviewing the different equations in this app’s library, teachers can have a class contest to see which student can create the most intricate shape or figure using this app. Teachers can give students time to experiment with the different equations in the library. After a period of time, teachers can require that students email or upload an image of their shape. Next, students can vote for their favorite image. Teachers can add a writing component by requiring students to include a brief statement explaining why they voted for the shape they did.
