MyScript Calculator provides users with a work area to write a mathematical equation or problem, which is then automatically solved by the app. If users write an incorrect equation or problem, MyScript Calculator prompts them to add the missing information.
Please note: A “?” must be entered for a lettered variable when solving equations. Additionally, MyScript Calculator cannot solve equations with two or more variables.
Instructional Ideas
- Teachers can use MyScript Calculator to model the mathematical procedures used to solve a problem or equation.
- Students can use MyScript Calculator to check both their answer and the procedure(s) used to solve the problem or equation.
- Teachers can have students compose critiques about the benefits and challenges experienced when using MyScript Calculator to solve math problems, thereby enabling students to engage higher-order thinking skills in the composition of the analysis.
- After reading a word problem, students can use MyScript Calculator to convert the word problem into its numerical form.
