Instructional Ideas for Shutterborg

  1. As students learn to use a word processing program, teachers can have students begin using Shutterborg to learn the basic features for writing documents, such as sizing, aligning, and stylizing text. Once they learn how to use these features, teachers can progress them to Google Docs, Grammarly, and/or Microsoft Word.
  2. For advanced students, teachers can have them compare the attributes, features, and functionalities of Shutterborg to Grammarly, Slick Write, and Paper Checker. Students can then compose a report that explains how they conducted the analysis and what they found before sharing them with the class.
  3. Teachers can have students use Shutterborg to write journals, daily reflections, responses to questions, and more. After each piece of writing, students can download and save it to their computer. At the end of the class or semester, students can then revisit all the documents they composed and choose their best five to be included in a portfolio-type assignment.
