Description: This app lesson will develop elementary school science students’ solar system understanding.
Instructional Objective: Students will develop an understanding of the Earth’s solar system. Students will recall the names of all of the planets and then be able to reproduce a model that represents their knowledge learned from the standard in a 3-D Model.
Step 1: Students will read Section 1 of volume 1 on the Galaxies by Kids app. Here, they will be able to get a good background knowledge on the Milky Way and general information about the planets.
Step 2: Students will choose their favorite planet and use the A Solar System Journey app to research and find some fun facts about their planet.
Step 3: Students will brainstorm a way to represent all that they have learned about their favorite planet with iBrainstorm. They will discuss the planet in short notes, discuss how they will build their 3-D model, and how they will present it to the class when the model is prepared.
Step 4: Students will make a video of themselves presenting their 3-D projects and will upload it to YouTube as a private video on their student accounts along with bringing in the 3-D model to discuss their favorite planets with their peers.
