Summary : An App to Help You Study

STUDYBLUE supports users in preparing for tests using a digital flashcard system. After registering with the class, users should first tap the “Lined” button on the top left of the screen. From there, they can tap the “Make Cards” button, which brings them to a new screen. At it, users can create multiple flashcards by adding a term and definition to each flashcard. Next, they tap the “Done” button, which saves the flashcard to a deck, and users can add new flashcards to it. Users are then returned to the home screen where they can choose to engage the cards using the “Flip Cards” option, or evaluate their knowledge o the cards via the “Take Quiz” option. Other options in this app include a “Class” option that allows users to look up their school, find their class and teacher, and then join it. Once joined, users will have access to three class features that include: (1) The “My Materials” feature that lets users see the cards they created for the class, (2) the “ Class Materials” feature that contains flashcards, notes, quizzes, and other documents shared with the whole class, and (3) the “Classmates” feature contains a list of students enrolled in the class.

Instructional Ideas

  1. After taking notes based on a text or lecture, students can create flashcards for key terms, facts, and ideas that were presented. Students can use the flashcards to keep the information fresh, or they can share it with other students in the class.
  2. When preparing for a vocabulary test, students can create flashcards to use while studying. Students can practice with the flashcards by using the “Flip Cards” and “Take a Quiz” options. After students complete an exercise, STUDYBLUE will provide them with a report about their performance.
  3. After taking notes for a class, students can share them with other classmates by sending them to their teacher and asking him/her to upload them.
