From its main screen, Teacher App & Grade Book contains four features for users, which include a Calendar, Roster, Message, and Checklist. The “Calendar” feature allows users to schedule by first tapping its icon on the main screen, selecting the date of the event, and then tapping the “+” button. At this point, users are able to input the details of the event that they are scheduling. The “Roster” feature lets users first create a class and then add students to it. To do so, users first tap the “Roster” icon and then create a class by tapping the “Add a Class” button. Users then must enter the details for their class (e.g., the days and times the class meets), add individual students to their class (e.g., student name and email, and parent name and email) and then tap the “Create a Class” button. Once this information is added, users are able to quickly send students emails using the “Compose” tool in the “Message” feature. They can also add notes, grades, and record attendance using the “Roster” feature. The “Checklist” feature allows users to jot down notes and tasks they are to complete. As those notes become no longer relevant or tasks are completed, users can check them off their list.

Classroom Applications:

  1. Teachers can record students’ attendance, grades, and behavior using the “Roster” feature in this app.
  2. Teachers can send students and their parents emails using the “Message” feature in this app. Emails can include information about grades, class happenings, attendance, and behavior.
  3. Teachers can schedule upcoming events using the “Calendar” or “Checklist” features.
  4. Teachers can enter the dates for upcoming assignments for a week, month, or semester. Then, at the beginning of each week, teachers can connect their iPad to a projector and preview the upcoming assignments.
