Instructional Ideas

  1. Teachers can create a class review of baseball rules using this app. To do so, teachers first must connect their iPad to a projector and then divide their class into groups of three to five students. Teachers will then load a quiz from this app and project the first question. Teams are to discuss the question. When ready, the teacher taps the “Make the Call” button, and the first team to raise their hands has the opportunity to answer the question. If they are correct, a point is awarded. If they are incorrect, a point is deducted. After that, the teacher progresses to the next question.
  2. After becoming familiar with the app, teachers can assign students to write scenarios and questions for other sports that follow this app’s format. The teacher, using the same format described in the previous instructional idea, can read these questions and answers to the class.
  3. After using this app to develop their knowledge of baseball rules, teachers can show the class videos of baseball rule infringements. (Videos can be found by searching YouTube.) After viewing the video, teachers can have students explain the rule being broken. Explanations can be written or verbal.
