Instructional Ideas
- When students are learning about global current events or conflicts, teachers can have them use this app to find the country’s location where the event is taking place.
- After using this app to identify where on the globe a conflict is happening, teachers can have students study the area and consider the following prompts: (1) Do you think any geographic features influenced this conflict? (2) Does the geography of the area give any group that is involved in this conflict an advantage? (3) Do you think this conflict will involve any neighboring countries?
- When students are studying for geography tests, they can use this app to find the location of different countries.
- To help students understand time zones, teachers can use this app in conjunction with word problems. For example, teachers can ask: If you were in Anchorage, Alaska, and wanted to wish your friend who lives in Saint Petersburg, Russia, a happy birthday at 7:00 pm his local time, what time would you have to call him?
