Description: This app lesson will develop elementary students’ understanding of animals and how they live in their environment.
Instructional Objective: Students will learn about different animals and their habitats, observe wildlife outside their classroom, and then create presentations to show what they learned.
Step 1: Students will have the opportunity to choose any animal on WWF Together. They will record a few interesting facts about that animal itself and the environment in which it lives.
Step 2: Students will take pictures and notes about the animals and plants outside their classroom in small groups using the iNaturalist app. Students will then choose one animal in particular to focus on that they took a picture of.
Step 3: Students will use PopBoardz to create presentations including the pictures they took using iNaturalist app as well as images from the internet to accompany information on their animal from WWF Together and their iNaturalist animal. Students will write two to three sentences about each picture explaining what the animal is, how it survives, its habit, or a fun fact about it. At the end of the presentation students will compare and contrast the animal found outside their classroom and the animal from the WWF app.
