Description: This app lesson will develop elementary students’ knowledge and understanding of planets, constellations, and the Sun’s orbit.
Instructional Objective: Students will be able to describe a planet in the solar system and its relation to the sun. Students will be able to diagram a constellation and explain its position in the night sky over the course of a year.
Step 1: Students will search for information and video related to their assigned planet using the A Solar System Journey app. Students will record data on the terrain of the planet, its orbit, etc.
Step 2: Students will use the Google app to further investigate their planet. Then, students will research their assigned constellation.
Step 3: Students will build a presentation in ShowMe Interactive Whiteboard providing their researched information. Students will create a drawing of their constellation, illustrating how it appears in the night sky from Earth during different seasons. Students will describe and share facts about their planet and constellation.
