Description: This app lesson will develop mathematics students’ understanding and knowledge of measuring, naming, and classifying angles.
Instructional Objective: Students will watch an instructional video on measuring, naming, and classifying various angles and will then measure a pre-constructed angle on paper with a digital protractor. Students will digitally draw another angle of their choice, name that angle three different ways, and classify that angle as acute, obtuse, or right, on a digital sketchpad. Students can then screen shot their work and share it with the class.
Step 1: Students will use the Math: Your Teacher App to watch the instructional video “Measuring Angles” where they will learn about measuring angles with a protractor, how to name angles, and classifying angles.
Step 2: Students will use the Protractor (Angle Meter) App to measure angles that have been pre-constructed by teachers on paper.
Step 3: Students will use the Sketchpad Explorer App to draw an angle of their choice using three points. Students will insert text to name the angle in three different ways and classify the angle as obtuse, acute, or right.
Step 4: Students will use the Edmodo App to upload and share a screenshot of their angle created with Sketchpad Explorer on their classroom’s Edmodo page so students can view each other’s work.
