Description: This app lesson develops students’ historical thinking and analysis skills.
Instructional Objective: Students will analyze a current event/policy being dealt with in U.S. government and report on this event/policy, connect it to a previous in U.S. history, demonstrate their understanding by creating an interactive video.
Step 1: Students will use the Briefing Room section of The White House app to research a current event or policy debate currently going on in U.S. government.
Step 2: Students will write an explanation of the policy debate or event in their own words, and an analysis of how the current event they picked connects to a policy debate or event from U.S. history using the Pages app.
Step 3: Students will use the Google app to find webpages, videos, and other content that elaborates on and substantiates their analysis.
Step 4: Students will use the TouchCast app to record themselves giving newscasts explaining their chosen current event/policy debate and how it links to previous U.S. history, incorporating webpages, videos, and other Internet content they have curated from their research in the previous step into their interactive TouchCast.
